Mobilising young leaders as Story Readers and Fundraisers

GoRead’s Summer Internship Program is a leadership initiative that empowers students aged 17 and above to become story readers and fundraisers for the GoRead.pk movement.

Over a six-week program, interns design and lead story read-aloud sessions for underprivileged children and raise funds to support GoRead.pk’s publishing house and literacy programs – earning community service credit along the way.
By joining, students strengthen their leadership and communication skills, contribute to child literacy, and gain hands-on experience working with a grassroots education NGO in Pakistan

What do our former interns say about the program?

After three weeks of being connected with GoRead.pk, I now have a list of little friends added to my life and a gallery full of wholesome pictures. These friends are my reading session buddies, all aged 6–12, who love listening to stories and always have endless questions.

I would love for more caring adults to join this movement and help restore the imagination and understanding that stories ignite. With the kind mentorship of GoReaders, and as you take the lead in finding your little readers and setting up a cozy space with the wonderful GoRead.pk books, you create a space that is much needed and deeply loved by all children.

This was my first internship, and I was nervous yet ardent to perform. The people at GoRead.pk were incredibly kind, cooperative, and supportive. Which made the experience smooth and easy. Reading to kids was a special journey that left a meaningful impact on me. Overall, this was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a meaningful opportunity to make a difference while developing essential personal and professional skills.

This Internship experience showed me that the impact of a good story is more than you can imagine. Through a GoRead.pk story an entire street can become a joyful space, where everybody learns things like being kind and empathetic to others and the environment- which is making a real difference.

This experience showed that the impact of a good story is more than you can imagine, as everyone likes to hear it.
What I loved most was how fun and meaningful it all felt. It wasn’t just about reading, it was about sharing imagination, sparking curiosity, and being part of something bigger than myself. GoRead.pk helped open my horizons, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity.
